Students discover how writing is used in everyday life!
Prime Time News: Students learn how to become reporters. They will study expository essays, research their subject, interview, and write an article. Interviews will be videotaped and reviewed in class. (Social media will not be used.)
Short Story Mania: Students learn the top 5 techniques in creating a great short story. Students study narrative and imaginative essays and learn about plot development. Campers can work on a previous story written or craft a new one.
Poetry and Lyrics: Students learn about writing, reading, and understanding poetry. Students write their poems. Music and beats are added to turn their poem into a song or rap lyrics. (Student appropriate, clean lyrics only)
Advertising: Students learn about persuasive essays by dissecting commercials and discovering persuasion technique used. Students then become advertisers and write their own scripts. Radio and TV commercials are recorded and viewed in class.
