Join us for summer writing camp at The Movie Tavern as students discover how to analyze and write movie reviews, summaries, and opinion essays! Each day we will watch and review a different movie while enjoying a delicious, kid-friendly meal crafted by the chefs at Movie Tavern.

Camp is taught by certified writing educators who will inspire your kids to express themselves on paper. Our nurturing and positive environment builds writing confidence and self-esteem.

Camp Fee:
Weekly – $250 (reg. $295) / Daily – $60 (reg. $75)

Please drop off prior to 10:00 am
Early dismissal available starting at 2:30 pm


9:30 – 10:00 Registration, drop-off, introduce writing challenge of the day, snack
10:00 – 12:00 Movie (Tuesday - Friday)
12:00 - 12:30 Lunch
12:15 – 1:15 Film Lesson
1:30 – 3:00 Instruction and writing time
3:15 - 3:30 Dismissal


In the event of cancellation, the following terms are applicable:

• If notice of cancellation is delivered to Fun Creative Writing more than 30 days prior to the camp, your camp fee is refundable minus 10% cancellation fee.

• If notice of cancellation is delivered to Fun Creative Writing within 30 days of camp, then 30% is nonrefundable. No refunds permitted within 14 days of camp.

Students will build the following skills and use this information for their opinion writing and movie reviews.

Film Critic: This lesson explains the job of a movie critic and discusses what it takes to become one.

Movie Plot: This lesson gets campers thinking about the basic components of a movie such as plot, shots (images), and their sequence.

Film Crew: This lesson focuses on the jobs of the film crew including the director, cinematographer, choreographer, lighting director, art director, sound/audio engineer, wardrobe and makeup are highlighted.

Film Genre: This lesson teaches the most common types of film categories and gets campers thinking about the types of films when evaluating a movie from the perspective of a film critic.

Pre-Production: This lesson maps out what happens before filming a movie begins. It discusses scripts/screenplays, storyboards, casting, wardrobe and various other film topics that film critics highlight in their reviews.
